ANOTHER PRACTICE DAY
It still wasn’t nice and sunny in Teaneck, but nevertheless we played outdoors today, on our own new FDU tennis courts. By the way, if you haven’t been yet, first of all “shame on you,” but more importantly we now have blue windscreens covering the fence, which makes them look even better, so they’re definitely worth a visit. ??
We arrived at the courts at 2 p.m. and played some tiebreaks against each other. For those of you who do not know what a tiebreak is, it’s a way of counting the scores while playing, not the usual match way. So instead of counting 40-15 and then games, sets, we count in points (4-3 for example), until one of the players gets to seven. We do this so we get to play different players in a short period of time, and it also has a bit more pressure on you because time does not allow you to waste many points because of course then you will lose. After this we had to run two or three laps around the soccer field to keep our muscles loose and slowly cool down.
??In my opinion it was another good day of practice. I see my teammates grow every day not only as tennis players but also as people. I see us motivating each other and pushing each other, and I see our coaches believing in us more than ever. Even though we might be playing the number 14 team in the country, tennis is a sport, and on that court we are all equals. Who knows what could happen.
