JERSEY CITY, N.J. -
Jalen Goode and
Trevor Ehrlicher were the first two to the finish line in FDU's first meet of the cross country season in Jersey City against the Saint Peter's Peacocks in a dual style meet. The Men's Cross Country squad bested Saint Peter's with the Women's team coming up just a couple of points short in the meet.
"Great start the the year for both sides. The women ran strong and executed well. Shoutout to
Jalen Goode and
Trevor Ehrlicher for leading the men's team for their third consecutive victory in the series with an impressive 18 point score," Elia G. Stratis Head Coach of Cross Country and Track and Field
Wesley Stephens said.
The afternoon started with the Women's race where the Knights were guided by Temi Adebayo and
Kayla Smith, but in the end the Peacocks were able to scrape together some higher place finishes to edge FDU. Behind Adebayo and Smith was
Aisha Williams, with
Jazlyne Aguilera finishing as the fourth Knight across the line in her FDU debut. The fifth runner for the Knights Women's Team was
Tanari Wyatt.
In the Men's Race, a pack of three to four Knights paced the field for much of the race, as
Jalen Goode finished in first, with
Trevor Ehrlicher right on his heels in second place.
Liam Schwabik, who was a part of that three wide pack controlling the race finished in third place, with
Dylan Little and
Will Snoots rounding out the top five finishers for FDU.
The Knights will head to Brookville, N.Y. to compete in the LIU Fall Festival next Friday, September 18th, with the race time to be announced.
