HACKENSACK, N.J.- A fast start propelled FDU (8-16, 5-6) over Stonehill (9-15, 6-5) by a score of 74-58. The Knights scored first and never trailed on their way to a to a Thursday night victory.
- Taeshaud Jackson recorded his 21st career double-double in the win, where he totaled 22 points and collected 12 boards.
- He shot 10-14 from the floor and a perfect 2-2 at the free throw line.
- His 22 points are a season-best for the forward.
- Eight of his rebounds came on the defensive end, where he also recorded a block and a steal.
The Knights got on the board first with
Eric Parnell grabbing.a quick two in the paint off a bounce pass from
Cyril Martynov. The Knights scored two more quick buckets in the paint to lead 6-0.
Arthur Cox stepped in early sinking a three point strike to help the offense find a sizable lead, 13-4. After a brief six-point-run by Stonehill, Martynov slammed back a dunk to snatch back momentum for the Knights. In the final six minutes of the half, the Knights connected on a pair of three point plays, with
Joey Niesman and Cox connecting from beyond the arc. FDU took a 31-24 lead into the intermission
Jackson continued his prowess in the paint with four more points to open up the second half. Stonehill hung around in the early goings of the period, trailing by just seven. Looking for some separation, Niesman connected on a three-point play to extend the lead to ten.
Eric Parnell then connected on a second-chance three, after Jackson's tenth rebound, to put FDU ahead by 13, 46-33.
Cox's third three pointer broke the contest open, pushing the Knights ahead 51-35. With just over four minutes left in regulation, Jackson made his biggest defensive impact, blocking a three point attempt. While Parnell grabbed the rebound, Jackson stretched the court, opening himself up to catch Parnell's pass and slam in transition for the exclamation point. The Knights held on to win 74-58.
- Arthur Cox: logged 14 points, including going 3-5 from the arc. He complimented his offensive effort with five rebounds and a pair of steals
- Eric Parnell: added 10 points, including a steal and a trio of rebounds.
- FDU outscored the Skyhawks in the paint 30-24, and off turnovers 11-4.
- FDU outrebounded Stonehill 40-29.
