HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU (10-17, 7-7) fell at home to Central Connecticut (15-10, 9-5) by a score of 63-57 on Saturday afternoon.
- Arthur Cox led the team in scoring with 16 points
- Cox went 5-12 from the field and 5-6 from the free throw line
- He added eight rebounds, with five coming on the offensive end
CCSU built a 16–6 lead midway through the first half, but the Knights clawed back behind
Arthur Cox's spark off the bench—he put up 9 first‑half points and helped shrink the gap to 30–25 at halftime. FDU dominated the offensive glass early (11 first‑half second‑chance points), but cold perimeter shooting (0–7 stretch during CCSU's run) kept them from taking control.
The Knights showed resilience in the second half, responding to CCSU's largest lead of 10 (35–25 and again at 35–25 early in the period) with a steady push.
Joey Niesman fueled a key surge at the free‑throw line, hitting 6 straight in the final minutes to pull FDU within 47–47 with 3:25 left.
Taeshaud Jackson and Cox both contributed inside, and the defense produced several stops, but CCSU answered each run. FDU briefly got as close as 48–49 before the Blue Devils strung together a decisive 7–2 stretch, highlighted by Darin Smith Jr.'s late free throws.
- Taeshaud Jackson secured his third-straight game with double-digit rebounds (10)
- FDU's bench outscored CCSU's 24-6
- The Knights went 19-23 from the free throw line
- FDU outrebounded CCSU 38-33
The Knights will travel to Chicago State next Thursday, February 19, at 7 p.m. ET. Fans can watch the game on NEC Front Row.
