BRONX, N.Y. — Closing out the Rose Hill Classic, the FDU Knights (2-7) faced the defensive strength of the unbeaten Hofstra Pride (5-0).
Hofstra
made their presence known at the net with 12 blocks and in the back row with 49 digs. The Knights would not be able to establish their offense, losing in straight sets to the Pride, 25-16, 25-19, 25-13.
Set 1:
Junior Outside, Avery Bain would lead the Knights with three kills in the first set. However, three service errors and reception errors would prove costly for FDU. Hofstra would take set one, 25-16.
Set 2:
Hofstra's errors would keep the Knights in the set, but the power of the Pride's Jiosvili-Rava would open their lead. While FDU's Giorgia Vaschetti would spark some life into the Knights, the Pride would close out set two, 25-19.
Set 3:
Hofstra would maintain control of the net with five blocks. This strong defensive performance by the Pride made it difficult for the Knights to find their rhythm, losing the set 25-13.
The Knights return home for the first time this season. Come to the Bogota Savings Bank Center next weekend for the FDU/Iona Invitational. We will be hosting Iona and Manhattan next Friday, September 19th, starting at 12 p.m.
