HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball (17-15, 9-2) completed a doubleheader sweep of CCSU (12-21, 7-4) on Friday afternoon.
Julia Swan had a historic day in Hackensack, tossing a no-hitter to complete the Friday sweep.
Game 1
Before Swan stole the show,
Brooklyn Shroyer made some magic of her own in game one. The sophomore shut down the Blue Devil bats to start off the day, and set the tone for a dominant afternoon by Knights' pitching in Hackensack. Shroyer tossed a complete-game shutout, striking out nine and walking just two batters. Shroyer flirted with history herself, as she took a no-hitter into the seventh inning. The effort was broken up by a two-out single from CCSU's Grace Lawton. That would be the only hit CCSU would record across all 14 innings of softball between the two teams on Friday. The FDU offense was led by a strong day from both
Angela Costa and
Mikayla Conklin, who each drove in a pair of runs. Costa showed out on what was her birthday, going 2-for-2 with two booming doubles to left-center field.
Game 2
The second contest of the doubleheader was one that will go down in the history books for FDU.
Julia Swan took the circle and delivered one of the great performances ever seen by a Knight. The Whippany, N.J. native was in full control from the jump. Swan took a perfect game into the fifth inning, when she surrendered her first baserunner on an error at third base. Swan wold not be phased, and shut down the CCSU lineup the rest of the way to complete just the third no-hitter in FDU program history. Shroyer threw the last FDU no-hitter on April 11, 2024 against Le Moyne. The Knights' first ever no-hitter came in 2005, when Nicole Webb tossed one. Swan finished with a final line of 7.0 IP, 0H, 0R, 10K, 1BB. Swan's historic outing is just another feather in the cap of what has been a remarkable senior campaign. Swan currently holds a 1.95 ERA, and has tossed three complete game shutouts in the 2025 season so far. Swan leads the NEC in ERA, and also paces the conference with her three shutouts as well as 10 complete games. Swan has also allowed a batting average of just .209 to opponents, the best in the conference.
