FDU Splits With Saint Peter's

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU softball (23-22, 12-6) split a mid-week doubleheader with Saint Peter's (10-30, 1-17) on Wednesday night. The Knights took the first game 10-4, before dropping the second game by a score of 9-5.

Game One

The Knights jumped out to a quick lead against the Peacocks in game one. The Knights poured in three runs in the first inning, highlighted by a two-run monster shot by Ayden Stone. FDU would not look back after taking the quick lead. The Knights tacked on four more runs in the second, and found themselves leading 7-1. Saint Peter's slightly clawed back into the game, plating three runs in the fifth inning to make things 7-4. However, the Knights quickly regained control of the game in the bottom half of the inning. Isabella Herring laced a two-run double to left center, padding the Knight lead further. Kailee O'Sullivan tacked on one more insurance run in the sixth to make things 10-4, which would hold for the final score. Erika Barela had a phenomenal day for the Knights in the win, going 3-for-4 with 3 RBIs.

Game Two

FDU again jumped out to a quick lead in game two, finding themselves ahead 4-0 in the second inning. Saint Peter's quickly made things a close game, as Jess Forte hit a three-run home run down the left field line, putting the score at 4-3. The Peacocks would tie the game up in the fourth, on an RBI double by Olivia Christopher. Things carried onto the sixth inning, when Saint Peter's blew the game open with a five-run rally. Peacock pitching was able to shut down the FDU bats from that point, resulting in the 9-5 final.
