NORTH EASTON, MA – FDU softball (24-24, 13-8) wrapped up their 2025 regular season with a three-game set on the road against Stonehill (14-33, 5-13). The Knights dropped two of the three to the opposing Skyhawks.
Game One
The Knights started off the series with a strong 9-1 win in game one of a Sunday doubleheader. FDU jumped out to an immediate 4-0 first inning lead, highlighted by a two-run homer by freshman Kailee O'Sullivan. FDU would plate another run in the second to go up 5-0. Brooklyn Shroyer held things down for the Knights in the circle. Receiving the start, the sophomore hurled a six-inning complete game, striking out 11 Skyhawks, and giving up just one run on two hits. The Knights ended the game in six innings following another late offensive explosion. Celeste Quezada launched a two-run homer following an O'Sullivan RBI single in the fifth. Madison Rishel then scored on a series of errors in the sixth inning, putting the Knights up 9-1. Shroyer shut the door in the bottom half of the sixth to give FDU the win.
Game Two
FDU dropped the second game of the doubleheader by a score of 10-9. The offense was working early again for the Knights, as they took another 4-0 lead in the first inning. The margin grew to 9-3 after a big fifth inning rally. FDU took that lead into the sixth inning, where the Stonehill offense woke up for the first time. The Skyhawks put together a monster rally, scoring seven runs in the inning to erase the six-run deficit. Stonehill proceeded to blank the Knights in the ensuing seventh to steal a come-from-behind victory. Despite the loss, the Knights got another stellar performance from O'Sullivan, who went 3-4 with 2 RBIs.
Game Three
The series wrapped up in thrilling fashion on Monday afternoon. Stonehill took the rubber match 1-0 in a ten-inning nailbiter. FDU sent Brooklyn Shroyer back out in the circle, and she carried the Knights through the afternoon, pitching 9.1 innings and striking out 11 Skyhawks. The Knights simply could not plate any runners despite a few good scoring chances. The offense combined for nine hits, but were shutout by Stonehill's Harper Sullivan, who tossed a ten-inning complete game shutout. Stonehill was able to break the scoreless tie in the bottom half of the tenth, when Piper Hoffman singled to bring home the extra-inning runner.
