FAIRFIELD, Conn. – The FDU Knights (10-31, 10-11 NEC) dropped a midweek non-conference matchup to the Fairfield Stags (31-9, 16-2 MAAC) by a final score of 10-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
Freshman left-hander
James Vlastaris got the start on the mound for the Knights, tossing three innings and allowing four earned runs on four hits while striking out five.
Fairfield's offense came out hot, plating six runs in the first three innings. Matt Bucciero powered the Stags with two home runs—one in the first and another in the third—driving in five runs. Fairfield added another run when TJ Schmalzle scored on an overthrow to third during a stolen base attempt, giving the Stags a 6-0 advantage.
FDU responded with three runs across the sixth and seventh innings.
Franklin Gomez Jr. delivered two RBIs, one on a single and another on a sacrifice fly, and
Anthony Chiappetta added an RBI double to center field to cut the deficit to 6-3.
However, Fairfield shut the door on the Knights' comeback hopes, tacking on four more runs on a pair of singles and a double to seal the 10-3 victory.

The Knights hit the road again for a midweek matchup at NJIT on Wednesday, April 30. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
