BRONX, N.Y. – The FDU Knights (2-29, 8-10 NEC) dropped a non-conference matchup to the Fordham Rams (16-21, 7-8 A10) by a final score of 15-5 on Tuesday afternoon.
Fordham jumped out to an early lead, scoring six runs over the first three innings. The Rams capitalized with a home run, a double, two singles, and a sacrifice fly to build a 6-0 advantage.
FDU responded in the top of the fourth when
JR Bozek delivered a two-run single to put the Knights on the board and cut the deficit to 6-2. However, Fordham answered quickly with a four-run bottom half, highlighted by a three-run homer and an RBI single to push their lead to 10-2.
The Knights kept fighting in the top of the fifth, plating three runs to close the gap to 10-5.
Jimmy Mantuano started the rally with an RBI single, followed by
Anthony Chiappetta, who drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home
Diego Urreta. Bozek continued his productive day with an infield single that scored Mantuano.
Fordham responded once again in the bottom of the fifth, plating three additional runs on a single and a fielder's choice to extend their lead to 13-5.
The Rams added two more runs in the bottom of the sixth to stretch their lead to 15-5 over FDU.
Travis Stroh sparked some late offense for the Knights with a triple to right-center, then came home on a wild pitch to make it 15-6. However, Fordham added an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth to seal a 16-6 victory over FDU.
James Vlastaris got the start on the mound for FDU, tossing 2.2 innings.
Zach Winter and
Logan Magdits made appearances out of the bullpen. The Knights' pitching staff combined for three strikeouts on the day.

The FDU Knights will host the Mercyhurst Lakers for a three-game conference series at Naimoli Family Baseball Complex in Teaneck, N.J. First pitch of game one is set for Thursday, April 17 at 3 p.m. The game will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
