CLEVELAND, OHIO. – FDU Senior Associate Vice President/Director of Athletics Bradford Hurlbut has been named a NACDA Athletic Director of the Year. The announcement came from the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) on Monday morning. This prestigious honor acknowledges Hurlbut's outstanding leadership, commitment to student-athlete success, and transformative impact on the FDU athletic program.
"I truly wouldn't have received this award without the hard work and dedication that our terrific coaches, staff and student-athletes bring to FDU every day," said Hurlbut. "I share this accolade with them and thank NACDA for this tremendous honor. I look forward to celebrating with the other recipients this June in Orlando!"
Since assuming leadership of FDU Athletics, Hurlbut has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have elevated the department's national profile. Under his direction, the Knights have achieved unprecedented success in competition, the classroom, and the community. His emphasis on holistic student-athlete development, facility enhancements, and external partnerships has significantly strengthened the department's foundation.

In Hurlbut's tenure, FDU has seen the renovation of University Stadium, Naimoli Family Baseball Complex, the Bogota Savings Bank Center, the Panicucci Center for Student-Athlete Success and the Clark Strength and Conditioning Center. In 2023, FDU placed 92
nd in the Learfield Director's Cup, marking the first top 100 finish for an NEC institution.

During his tenure, Hurlbut has expanded revenue opportunities, increased alumni engagement, and positioned FDU as a leader in the I-AAA landscape. His focus on multi-platform storytelling has enhanced the overall brand and visibility of FDU Athletics, further strengthening its competitive edge.

The NACDA I-AAA Athletic Director of the Year Award recognizes athletics directors from non-football playing institutions who demonstrate exceptional leadership, service, and achievement within intercollegiate athletics. Hurlbut will be formally honored at the 2025 NACDA Convention in Orlando, Florida.

ABOUT FDU ATHLETICS
FDU is home to 21 NCAA Division I teams. A member of the Northeast Conference, the Knights have had tremendous success in the classroom, in athletic competition as well as giving back to the Bergen County community. FDU became the first school in Northeast Conference (NEC) history to win championships in women's volleyball, women's soccer, and men's soccer in the same season (2022). In 2023, the Burgundy and Blue also became the first NEC school to win two games as a 16-seed in the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship, including an upset over top-seeded Purdue. As a result of its incredible 2022-23 season, FDU placed 92nd in the Learfield Director's Cup, the first NEC program to finish in the Top 100. In 2024 Salif Mane captured the Triple jump title at the 2024 NCAA Track and Field Outdoor Championships, went on to win the gold medal at the Team USA Olympic Trials, and compete at the Paris Olympics. Since 2019, FDU has won 15 conference titles across men's soccer, men's tennis, men's basketball, women's basketball, women's indoor track & field, women's bowling, women's golf, and women's volleyball. Off the field, FDU student-athletes were recognized for their efforts in the community by winning the NEC Building Communities Award in both 2020 and 2024. In addition to recent championships, FDU holds five additional national championships, three in sport of women's fencing and two in women's bowling.
