ORLANDO, Fla. – FDU (3-7, 1-0) men's tennis came up short in a 5-2 loss to NC Central (6-4, 1-0) on Tuesday afternoon.
The tightly contested doubles point came down to the wire.
Andrew Nicolae and Joshua Obinye won their match 6-3. NC Central took the other two matches and the doubles point.
Joshua Obinye lost his match at #1 singles in three sets. He won the second set in a tiebreaker. At #2 singles, Linley lost in straight sets.
Griffyn Minor earned a victory in the #3 spot. He coasted to a 6-4, 6-3 straight-set victory. Minor is 3-2 in his last five singles matches.
Both the #4 and #5 spots produced three set matches. Taurus Mickus won the middle set but dropped the first and thirds. In a close first set,
Asaf Schwartz outlasted his opponent in a tiebreaker 7-3. He dropped the next two sets.
Jorge Alonso-Cortes earned his third-straight victory at the #6 spot. He came back from a set down to win 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.
