BROOKLYN, N.Y. – FDU women's basketball (25-3, 15-0) picked up a win over LIU on Saturday afternoon by a score of 73-46. The victory sets a new program record for wins in a single-season.
Utter domination.
Those two words just about described the Knights' fifteenth conference game of the season. FDU was in full control of the game, from the first quarter. The Knights closed the first frame on a 15-2 run, utterly stifling the LIU offense. The Sharks only scraped eight points across the first ten minutes.
The defensive effort for the Knights continued in to the second quarter. FDU would allow just seven points in the second stanza, and at halftime, the score stood at 38-15, in favor of FDU.
Teneisia Brown was dominant for the Knights in the victory. Brown nearly recorded a double-double in the first half alone, scoring 11 points in the first twenty minutes.
The massive cushion the Knights built across the first half allowed them to play more freely in the second half. The LIU offense came alive a bit across the final 20, with the Sharks' backcourt of Sirviva Legions and Janessa Williams each hitting a few shots. The lead was simply insurmountable, and FDU coasted to victory.
With the win, FDU reaches the 25 win mark for the first time in program history. They also extend their winning streak to 18 straight games.
