HACKENSACK, N.J. – LIU (16-5, 12-4) scored 43 points in the second half and defeated FDU (12-19, 8-8) 74-55 in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss, FDU lands at the #4 seed in next week's NEC tournament. They will host a quarterfinal in Hackensack on Wednesday, March 5.
The Knights could not find their rhythm from behind the arc, shooting 2-18 on three-point field goals. LIU took advantage of this by draining seven triples of their own.
FDU overcame ten turnovers in the first half and took a 32-31 lead into halftime. They scored 20 of their 32 points in the paint. They also held LIU to under 33% from the field in opening period.
LIU took the lead and slowly pulled away in the second half. They limited FDU to just 8-27 from the field and caused eight more turnovers in the game's final 20 minutes.
Bismark Nsiah posted an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double on a day where FDU's graduating class was honored. Fellow soon-to-be graduate
Tyree Barba-Bey got the start and scored ten points.
