FDU Looks to Make More History At CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CT – FDU women's basketball (17-3, 7-0) heads to face Central Connecticut (6-15, 5-3) on the road Thursday. The Knights will look to stay red-hot in conference play, and improve their lead atop the Northeast Conference. Coverage of the game will be available as an exclusive on ESPN+.

FDU rides a ten-game win streak into the match-up, the longest in program history. The Knights will also seek to set another program record in their match-up against CCSU. The best start to conference play in program history is eight straight wins, set by the 1992-93 team. A win over the Blue Devils would tie that record.

The Knights will look to make history behind strong play from their freshman point guard Ava Renninger. The rookie enters the game against CCSU coming off of the best game of her young collegiate career. Renninger dropped a career-high 28 points in FDU's last contest against Mercyhurst on February 1. The 28-point performance is the most by any Knight player this season. Renninger also knocked down six three-pointers, the most by a Knight this season. Her stellar performance resulted in the Yardley, PA native winning the NEC's Co-Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week awards.

FDU will also look to pick up a season sweep of CCSU. The Knights and Blue Devils last met on January 18 in Hackensack. FDU took down CCSU by a score of 75-58 behind a 17 point performance out of Renninger.

CCSU guard Belle Lanpher will be a name to watch in the showdown. Lanpher is also the reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week alongside Renninger. In the two teams' last meeting, Lanpher dropped a game-high 31 points. Lanpher is a dynamic scorer. Through just eleven games this season, she is averaging 23.0 PPG to lead CCSU.

The Knights and Blue Devils will tip off at 4:00 p.m. in New Britain, CT, with broadcast coverage on ESPN+.
