HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU men's basketball has two games on the docket this week. On Thursday, February 6, they travel to Central Connecticut before returning home on Saturday, February 8, to take on Wagner.
The Knights and Blue Devils tipoff at 8 p.m. in New Britain. The game will air on the YES Network, SNP, NESN+ and ESPN+.
In Hackensack on Saturday, FDU and Wagner are set for a 1 p.m. start on NEC Front Row.
The Knights are coming off a 1-1 homestand last week. They defeated Le Moyne 78-74 last Thursday, before falling to Mercyhurst by seven a few days later. FDU struggled to shoot it in their matchup with the Lakers. The team shot just 5-20 from three-point range. This particularly hurt them at the end of the first half when the Lakers stifled FDU and built an 11-point advantage. The Knights got within five a few times in the second half but were not able to overcome the initial deficit.
Terrence Brown finished with 19 points to lead the team in the 67-60 loss.
With their 5-3 conference record, FDU sits right in the thick of things in the NEC. They currently hold the second spot, just .025 percentage points ahead of Mercyhurst and LIU. The only team in the league with fewer losses than FDU is Central Connecticut, who will go for the season sweep over the Knights on Thursday night and try to move a step closer to securing the regular season title.
The Blue Devils are 7-2 and have won five games in a row. Four of these five victories have come on the road. More impressively, they have won four of these games by double-digits with two 17+ points win in there. In conference play CCSU is allowing fewer than sixty points a game and averaging just shy of 70 on the offensive end.
Jordan Jones is the player to watch for CCSU. He is the reigning NEC player of the Week and is looking to build off a 20-point performance against Stonehill. The Blue Devils' leading scorer is averaging 13.3 points per game.
After FDU attempts to avoid a sweep at CCSU, they will get a chance to record a sweep of their own when Wagner comes to Hackensack. The Knights opened their NEC slate with a 71-59 win over Wagner on 1/4/25. FDU got contributions from nearly their entire roster in a game in which they scored 50 points in the paint. Brown led the way with a career-high 28 points.
Bismark Nsiah came up one assist shy of recording a 11-point, 12 rebound triple-double.
Wagner is 4-5 in conference play and are experiencing an up-and-down season. They dropped their first two conference games, but since then have not lost or won consecutive games. The Seahawks are at the top of the see-saw right now after a 12-point win over Le Moyne. They will battle LIU Thursday at home before traveling to Hackensack.
While Wagner ranks eighth in scoring, their defense sits atop the NEC. They allow just over 60 points per game. However, since NEC play has started, they have slid back to fifth in the defensive rankings.
FDU will be home to take on Chicago State next Thursday and heads on the road to LIU on Saturday.
