Shroyer's Shutout Performance Delivers Knights' First Win

Box Score BALTIMORE, MD – FDU softball (1-5, 0-0) picked up their first win of the season on Friday, defeating Morgan State (1-6) by a score of 1-0.

Knights sophomore Brooklyn Shroyer was utterly brilliant in the victory, twirling seven shutout innings to help lead the Knights to victory. The San Dimas, CA native pitched a dominant line of 7.0 IP, 3H, 0BB, 9K. The performance is an encouraging sign for FDU, as they will look to catapult off of Shroyer's success in the 2024 season. Last season as a freshman, Shroyer was one of the best pitchers in all of NCAA DI, and took home multiple honors. She was named the 2024 NEC Rookie of the Year, as well as being named to the 2024 All-NEC First Team, and All-Rookie Team.

Shroyer was helped out at the plate by FDU freshman Madison Rishel. Rishel went 3-4 and drove in the Knights' lone run in the victory. The Strongsville, OH native looks to be a highly exciting freshman for the Knights. Rishel is now hitting a team-high .400 through the Knights first six games. She has also started each of the six games for FDU as just a freshman. Rishel will be a name to watch in Hackensack this season, as she looks to continue making her mark as a rookie.

FDU will continue their season by playing a double-header against Morgan State on Sunday, February 23, to wrap up a weekend series in Baltimore. Sunday's gametimes are 11:00 a.m, and 1:00 a.m.
