Mercyhurst Pulls Past FDU in Second Half

ERIE, Pa. – The Mercyhurst Lakers (14-16, 8-7) surged in the second half and took down FDU (11-17, 7-6) by a score of 65-60 on Thursday night. The Knights seized momentum early after halftime, but a 12-0 Laker run took it away.

Makes were few and far between in the first half. A stout FDU defensive effort held Mercyhurst to just one make on their first ten attempts. Dylan Jones knocked down two of his four threes and helped the Knights out to a 12-6 lead. Mercyhurst responded with nine of the next ten points to grab their first lead of the game.

The teams shot a combined 17-57 and committed 13 turnovers in the first 20 minutes of action. They went into the locker room tied at 24-24.

FDU found some offensive footing early in the second half and took a 36-29 lead less than four minutes in. Over the next four minutes, the Lakers scored 12 unanswered to take a 41-36 lead.

The Knights responded with two threes from Bismark Nsiah and Jameel Morris and found themselves back in front, 44-41. Mercyhurst answered again and pulled ahead 48-47.

From the 6:46 to 2:52 mark, FDU was held to just one point. Mercyhurst built a 56-48 lead in that span that the Knights could not overcome.

Dylan Jones and Terrence Brown each led the Knights in scoring with 15 points.
