Martynov Leads Way in Win Over Saint Elizabeth

 
HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU (1-4) hit the century mark in their home opener at the Bogota Savings Bank Center on Tuesday night. The Knights defeated Saint Elizabeth (1-3) by a score of 100-58.
 
KNIGHT OF THE KNIGHT

Cyril Martynov eclipsed a career high with 23 points in his Hackensack debut. The Canadian center missed just two shots in a 9-11 effort from the field. Martynov corralled seven boards and was a +25 by the end of the night. 17 of his points came in the second half.
 
GAME STORY

FDU opened the game on a 13-3 run and led by as many 21 in the first half. In a balanced scoring effort, seven Knights scored at least five points as they built a 45-27 lead at the break.

The Knights connected on seven threes and converted 10-11 free throws in the opening stanza.

The story of the second half was a 36-14 run to end the game. FDU shot 60% in the final 20 minutes and dialed in five more triples. Saint Elizabeth had no chance to keep up as the Knights held them to just ten made field goals in the period.
 
COUNTING THE CAVALRY
  • The Knights grabbed 56 boards, the fourth highest in a single-game in program history
  • Taeshaud Jackson matched a season high with 13 rebounds
  • Arthur Cox went 5-6 from the line and is a team best 20-25 from the charity stripe on the season
  • With 14 points tonight, Noah Melson became the team leader in points per game at 12.8
  • Raysean Johnson recorded the first ten-point performance of his career in his first career start
  • Johnson is averaging 9.5 points per game over the last two contests
  • David Jevtic scored four off the bench for his third double-digit scoring output of the season
WHAT'S NEXT

The Knights will host the FDU Basketball Classic presented in partnership with The Salvation Army next week. FDU will host East Texas A&M on Monday, November 24, at 12 p.m. to open the action.
