HACKENSACK, N.J. — FDU women's volleyball (18-11, 12-4) ended their regular season schedule with a sweep over CCSU (9-19, 8-8) on Saturday afternoon (25-21, 25-19, 25-21).
Eight seniors were recognized prior to today's match— Maria Cisneros, Jessica Much, Kyndal Ganoe, Sam Wittholz, Vittoria Bertoli, Giorgia Vaschetti, MacKenzy Ruggiero, and Kylie Nott. Leading the Knights, senior captains Kylie Nott and Giorgia Vaschetti combined for 22 points to help FDU come out victorious.
Set 1:
FDU led the entire set, opening a five point lead halfway through. While CCSU closed in on their lead late, errors proved costly and a service error gave FDU the set, 25-21.
Set 2:
A slow start with both teams trading early service errors, but the Knights got rolling behind the power duo of Vaschetti and Nott. The Blue Devils rallied a 3-0 run, but service errors proved costly once again. FDU closed out the set, 25-19.
Set 3:
FDU jumped to an early lead, but the Blue Devils went on a 5-1 run to tie the set. The duo of Vaschetti and Nott went on another hot streak, tallying 5 kills to put the Knights back on top. FDU continued to roll, completing the sweep 25-21.
