BRIDGEWATER, N.J — FDU women's volleyball extends winning streak and dominates the weekly awards. Angela Marchetto was named NEC/Molten Defensive Player of the Week, while Alessia Zampieri earned NEC/Molten Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive time on Tuesday.
Making it three in a row, Alessia Zampieri is having a strong rookie campaign that continues to be recognized by the conference. In their two victories over Chicago State, the sophomore right side averaged 10 points per game. She totaled 14 kills and 8 blocks, hitting .239 on the weekend.
Along with Zampieri, Angela Marchetto came alive against the Cougars this past weekend. The sophomore middle blocker had a total of 9 blocks and 12 kills, hitting .818 on the weekend. In their Friday night victory, Marchetto had 5 kills on 5 attempts, for a perfect 1.000 hitting percentage. Defensively, she managed to be a force at the net with 6 blocks on the night. She finished the weekend averaging 1.28 blocks per set.
Marchetto was also named to the NEC Prime Performer list along with senior middle blocker Kylie Nott. The Texas native had an impressive weekend with 17 kills, 5 digs, 4 blocks, and 3 aces, hitting .431 on the weekend.
The Knights are back home in the Bogota Savings Bank Center this weekend to take on the undefeated Saint Francis Red Flash on Friday October 24 at 6 p.m. and Saturday October 25 at 1 p.m.
