HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (11-3, 1-0) defeated Wagner (4-10, 1-1) for their first NEC victory of the season on Saturday afternoon. The Knights dominated from start to finish to cruise to a 75-49 victory over the Seahawks.
FDU jumped out to a quick lead to take control of the game, taking a 24-7 advantage into the second quarter.
Abaigeal Babore lit things up in the first frame to help FDU get out to an early lead. The Merchantville, N.J. native scored nine points in the first on four-of-five shooting. The Knights as a team lit things up in the first, converting four threes to help balloon their lead.
Wagner started to find their footing in the second quarter, as they out-scored FDU 14-9 to chip further into the Knight lead. The Seahawks kept the pressure on into the second half, going on an early run to make it a seven-point game early in the third. The Knights were able to respond, going on a 20-8 run to close out the third following the early surge from Wagner. Nine points on three three-pointers from
Ava Renninger helped FDU pull away to take a 53-34 lead into the final quarter.
FDU kept the pressure on in the fourth, with
Teneisia Brown stepping up and scoring nine points in the frame to close the game out.
The victory puts FDU at 1-0 in NEC play to start the 2024-25 season. It also extends the Knights' home winning streak to seven game this season. FDU has yet to drop a game at home in the 2024-25 campaign.

- FDU was led in scoring by Abaigeal Babore, who scored 15 points on a highly efficient 7-for-10 shooting performance (70%).
- Nine of Babore's 15 points came in the first quarter.
- Four different Knights scored in double figures in the win (Teneisia Brown, Ava Renninger, Abby Babore, Lilly Parke)
- Ava Renninger tied a career-high with four three-point baskets en route to a 14-point performance.
- The Knights were takeaway machines, forcing 18 Wagner turnovers in the victory.
- FDU out-rebounded Wagner 39 to 35.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Knights will next embark on their first road trip of the 2024-25 NEC season. It will be a weekend in Pennsylvania for FDU, as they face Saint Francis on Thursday, January 9 followed by the first ever meeting with new NEC member Mercyhurst on Saturday, January 11.
