Women's Basketball Begins NEC Play at Home vs. Wagner

HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's basketball (10-3, 0-0) hosts Wagner (4-9, 0-0) on Saturday afternoon to kick off Northeast Conference play. Tip-off will come at 2:00 p.m with coverage available on NEC Front Row.

The Knights head into the NEC slate following one of their most dominant non-conference starts of all time. FDU finished the first portion of their schedule with a 10-3 record. That is the best non-conference record for the program since the 1991-92 season, when the Knights also finished 10-3. The 1991-92 season is also the last time that any NEC program had a ten-win non-conference schedule.

FDU will also ride in a remarkable winning streak at home. The Knights went 6-0 at home in the non-conference portion of their schedule, and will look to stay hot on their home court against the first NEC visitors in Wagner.

The key players to watch for FDU heading into conference play are graduate student Teneisia Brown, and freshman Ava Renninger. The two Knights have been big names across the conference during the start of the season, and head into the match-up as the reigning NEC Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Brown has been named as the NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Player of the Week three separate times this season. She averaged 13.3 PPG throughout non-conference play, as well as a team-leading and NEC-leading 9.6 RPG.

Renninger has broken out as one of the most impressive freshmen in the nation during FDU's hot start to the season. She leads the team in scoring with 13.6 PPG. Renninger is a five-time NEC/Atlantic Tomorrow's Office Rookie of the Week winner, and also picked up a Player of the Week honor earlier in the season.

The Knights welcome a 4-9 Wagner program to town, who are coming off of a win in their first NEC action this season. The Seahawks took down Chicago State on the road 85-73 on January 2 to kick off conference play. Wagner is led by a high-octane guard duo of Taleah Washington and Julia Fabozzi. Washington is averaging 21.0 PPG on 50% shooting in three games this season. Fabozzi is averaging 16.1 PPG and 6.4 RPG across 13 games this year.
