HACKENSACK, N.J. – Central Connecticut (12-6, 3-2) utilized a 23-6 run in the middle stages of the game to take down FDU (6-13, 2-2) 71-60 on Saturday evening. Jayden Brown led the Blue Devils with 16 points.
Tyree Barba-Bey carried the load offensively for FDU. The graduate student posted 25 points, the most he has scored in a home game this season. Barba-Bey knocked down seven threes and grabbed eight rebounds in a stellar performance.
The Blue Devils executed throughout the entirety of the game. They shot an incredibly efficient 50.9% from the field and were 6-18 from downtown. Four of their starters ended up in double-figures. Abdul Momoh secured a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds.
The Knights fell behind 8-0 at the start of this game but battled back in the first half. Trailing 27-22, they made three-straight field goals and surged ahead 30-29 with just over four minutes to go in the half. The Blue Devils then took control of the game. They scored eight unanswered before the buzzer sounded and took a 37-30 lead into halftime.
The Blue Devil lead grew to 52-36 by the 14-minute mark in the second half. FDU cut the lead to ten but never any closer as Central Connecticut put the finishing touches on their road victory.
Jo'el Emanuel continues to be a bright spot in conference play for FDU. Despite a challenging shooting night, the junior forward finished with 13 points and seven rebounds. Outside of Barba-Bey, he was the only Knight to finish with double-digit points.
Central Connecticut dominated the interior in this game. They outscored FDU 42-18 in the painted area.
Both teams earned their fair share of rebounds. The Blue Devils outrebounded FDU by a slim 39-34 margin. The Knights did collect ten offensive boards but were only able to cash in seven second-chance points.
