HACKENSACK, N.J. – FDU women's volleyball returned home today for a midweek battle against New Jersey foe Saint Peter's. Fresh off a 3-0 weekend at the George Mason Invitational, the Knights kept their hot streak going with a sweep of the Peacocks.
With an early 7-4 lead, the Knights found their momentum early, showing their dominance over the Peacocks the entire first set. Offense was all FDU as the Knights logged 15 kills and only four errors for a very impressive clip of .423. Reigning NEC/Molten Player of the Week
Kylie Nott tallied 4 kills and no errors, leading the Burgundy and Blue to a set one victory of 25-17.
Set two saw a more composed Saint Peter's squad, who never let the Knights gain a lead of more than three. Combined with a cooled down FDU offense, the set was a back-and-forth battle until the Burgundy and Blue were able to pull ahead with help from a hot hitting Nott. Tied at 19-19, two kills from Nott and two kills from sophomore
Avery Bain stretched FDU to a 25-22 set two victory to lead the match 2-0.
Playing off their momentum, the Knights hopped to a commanding 10-3 lead to start set three. Junior
Giorgia Vaschetti showed her dominance at the net, tallying five kills within the first 15 points. Vaschetti and the rest of the Knights found their footing on offense and didn't let up, totaling nine kills and just one error on the set. FDU was able to hold Saint Peter's to a -0.029 hitting clip, allowing an easy cruise to a 25-18 set and match victory.
The Knights were led by Nott who tallied nine kills and no errors for a hitting clip of .692. She also had five blocks and one assist on her impressive night.
