QUEENS, N.Y. - The FDU Knights took on the St. John's Red Storm in a midweek battle in Queens that resulted in a 3-1 victory for the Knights.
Senior right-handed pitcher
Nicholas Feretic started the day on the mound for the Knights pitching the first two innings of today's matchup. Today we saw the Knights pitching staff utilize five additional arms from:
Cole Vida,
Dante Edwardi,
Jake Simon,
Joey Kosowsky and
Vladimir Ceverino. FDU tallied seven strikeouts in today's outing and credited Feretic with a win and Ceverino with a save.
The Knights got on the board first with a massive two-RBI single off the bat of Joey DIMotta who plated
Justin Sierra and
Hunter D'Amato. This knock to right field gave the Knights a 2-0 lead over the Red Storm in the top of the third inning.
St. John's made the score 2-1 in the bottom of the third with a lone run that resulted off a single up the middle.
Looking for some insurance for the Knights, D'Amato singled down the left field line to bring in
Brian Sanders and score the final run of the day resulting in a 3-1 lead for the Knights in the top of the fourth.
The Knights and Red Storm pitching staffs shut down both offenses for the rest of the game and closed the day with a 3-1 FDU win.
The Knights managed to pick up five hits and six walks in today's game.
Hunter D'Amato picked up another multi-hit game with two hits.
Justin Sierra,
Joey DiMotta,
Jimmy Mantuano and
TJ Werner all recorded one hit each.
