HACKENSACK, N.J. - LIU took both games of the doubleheader against FDU as they swept the three-game series.
Julia Swan took the mound for the Knights and showcased her dominance in the opening two frames.
In the third, LIU took the lead thanks to a two out double from Castro which brought in two runs.
FDU found their first hit of the game in the third thanks to a well hit grounder up the middle from Isabella Herring.
The Knights loaded the bases in the fourth but failed to get a run across as O'Donnell stuck out Costa for the crucial third out of the inning.
LIU added an insurance run in the fifth thanks to aggressive baserunning from Padilla who stole home to make it a three-run ballgame.
The Sharks added another run in the seventh courtesy of an RBI double from Castro.
FDU failed to score a run as LIU took the first game by a score of 4-0.
LIU scored their first run of the game in the third and had a huge fourth inning to break open the game.
A grand slam from Polmeni made it a five-run game and the Sharks tacked on three more runs in the inning to make the gap eight runs.
The Knights failed to get a hit in the game as Cowans threw a five-inning no-hitter against FDU in game 2.
The Knights journey to Syracuse, N.Y., to face Le Moyne in a three-game midweek series starting on April 10th at 1 PM.
