Knights Split Doubleheader With Le Moyne

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- The Knights Softball team took a trip up to Le Moyne to take on The Dolphins in a mid-week doubleheader

Game 1

In a matchup against Le Moyne, the FDU Softball team showcased their offensive firepower, securing a significant victory and achieving a season-high 13 hits. Ayden Stone's flawless 4-4 performance at the plate and Brooklyn Shroyer's dominant pitching, tallying an impressive 13 strikeouts, were key highlights of the game.

FDU wasted no time getting on the scoreboard as Olivia Christopoul drew a walk and eventually crossed the plate on Ayden Stone's double to center field, giving The Knights an early 1-0 lead.

Pitcher Brooklyn Shroyer took command of the mound, delivering a clinic. Shroyer stifled Le Moyne's batters throughout the game and tallied impressive 13 strikeouts.

FDU's offense exploded in the third inning, sparked by Sydney Newton's single and followed by a barrage of hits, including Erika Barela's RBI single, Megan Berg's two-run double, and Isabella Herring's two-run single, pushing the Knights ahead 6-0.

Le Moyne clawed back with an unearned run in the third inning, narrowing the gap to 6-1 after a passed ball and a single.

Despite Le Moyne's attempts to rally, FDU's defense held firm, maintaining their lead through the game innings.

In the final inning, FDU remained poised and secured the victory by a final score of 6-1.

Game 2

FDU came out swinging in the opening inning, with Ayden Stone's single driving in the first run of the game. The Knights capitalized on walks and timely hitting, taking an early 1-0 lead.

Le Moyne responded with a run of their own, tying the game at 1-1 after a series of wild pitches and a bunt single.

FDU regained momentum in the third inning, sparked by Stone's second hit of the game. The Knights capitalized on walks, an RBI-single from Andreya Flores and a two-RBI single from Angela Costa to score three runs and extend their lead to 4-1.

Le Moyne clawed back into the game with two runs, narrowing FDU's lead to 4-3 after an error and a sacrifice fly.

FDU added to their lead with two more runs, courtesy of a single by Celeste Quezada and a sacrifice fly by Costa, making it 6-3 in favor of the Knights.

Le Moyne rallied once again, capitalizing on FDU's defensive miscue to score two runs and trim the deficit to 6-5.

The Dolphins seized control of the game with a three-run homer, taking the lead for the first time at 8-6.

Despite FDU's efforts to mount a comeback in the final innings, they were unable to overcome Le Moyne's lead, ultimately falling short in a hard-fought contest.
