FDU Complete Three-Game Sweep Over Stonehill

HACKENSACK, N.J.-The Knights utilized the home run ball to secure a victory over Stonehill and complete the three-game sweep, with Andreya Flores, Abbey Hoesman, and Ayden Stone all going yard as they improve to 19-27 on the year.

How It Happened

Brooklyn Shroyer took the mound for the Knights after pitching 12 innings over two games yesterday. The Skyhawks started off the game with Bottiglie hitting a double down the left field line. Stonehill capitalized on having a runner in scoring position as Sullivan hit an RBI single to plate Bottiglie for the first run of the game.

In the second inning, Abbey Hoesman tied the game up with a solo home run, her first of the season.

FDU took the lead in the third inning thanks to Hoesman's second RBI of the game as she hit a single into right field that scored Olivia Christopoul. Ayden Stone then hit a no doubt two-run home run into left field for her sixth of the season, and second of the series.

Stonehill responded with two runs in the fourth to make it a one-run game.

The Skyhawks tied up the ballgame in the fifth inning with a sacrifice bunt.

In the fifth inning, Andreya Flores hit FDU's third homer of the game to take the lead with a two-run shot, her third of the season. Hayden Salter helped the Knights score their seventh run of the game with aggressive base running. As Slater stole second an errand throw allowed Finley Carringer to score and advance Salter to third. Angela Costa then hit a two-RBI single which scored Sydney Newton and Hayden Salter to make it 9-4.

Shroyer shut down the Stonehill offense in the sixth and seventh innings while recording two strikeouts.

After striking out four batters over seven innings, Shroyer now has 233 strikeouts on the season and improves her record to 15-12 after securing all three wins against Stonehill.

Next up

The Knights are set to travel to Staten Island, N.Y., for a three-game series against Wagner, commencing on May 4th at 1 PM.
