NORTH ANDOVER, Mass. – The FDU Knights (15-26, 10-13) closed out their three-game series against the Merrimack Warriors (21-22, 14-10) which resulted in a 10-3 loss for the Knights.
Graduate right-handed pitcher
Zac Capps started the game on the mound for FDU and completed 4.2 innings. Capps struck out four in today's outing.
Merrimack found their way on the board first right away with a two-run homerun to take a 2-0 lead.
The Knights answered back with a massive solo blast off the bat of
Brian Sanders accounting for one FDU run.
Jeremy Cheeseman followed up with a double and moved to third. Cheeseman scored off a balk to knot the game at 2-2.
The Warriors grabbed the lead in the fifth inning with a grand slam to put them up 6-2. The seventh inning for Merrimack gave them a four-run addition off two homeruns to bring their lead to 10-2.
During the Knights final campaign to take the game,
Franklin Gomez Jr. came up with a clutch pitch-hit at bat that resulted in a single that scored Cheeseman. The Knights ultimately fell to the Warriors by a score of 10-3.
We saw
Jake Simon and
Ben Pika make relief appearances pitching the final 3.1 innings.
The Knights managed to pick up eight hits and five walks in today's game.
Hunter D'Amato picked up another multi-hit game with two hits. Sanders, Cheeseman,
Justin Sierra, Gomez Jr.,
Joan Sosa and
Brelon Harden all recorded one hit each.

The Knights will return to action to take on Columbia on Tuesday, April 30. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
