Knights Defeated in Both Games of Doubleheader Against Stony Brook

STONY BROOK, N.Y.- The FDU Softball team faced a tough challenge against Stony Brook as dropped their doubleheader match up.

Game 1

The Knights began the game with a two out Megan Berg single up the middle but was left on base as the inning ended.

Stony Brook extended their lead with Ackerman's homer to center field, making it 2-0 in their favor.

The Seawolves continued their offensive onslaught, with Orosco's double and Kupinski's single bringing in two more runs, making it 4-0.

Despite Berg walking and Barela reaching on a fielding error, the Knights couldn't capitalize, leaving both runners stranded.

Stony Brook added two more runs, courtesy of McFarland's sacrifice fly and Badger's walk with the bases loaded.

The Knights got on the board in the sixth inning with Barela's RBI double bringing home Berg.

Stony Brook responded with three more runs, extending their lead to 9-1 to end the game in the sixth.

Game 2

FDU struck first thanks to an Andreya Flores home run, the second of her season.

Stony Brook answered quickly with Kupinski's RBI single up the middle, driving in McFarland to tie the game.

The Knights regained the lead thanks to aggressive baserunning from Riley Cunningham who scored on a throw down to second as Finley Carringer was attempting to steal.

The Seawolves tied it up again as Orosco singled down the third base line and brought in Montalvo making it 2-2.

Kupinski and Sanzone seized the lead for the Seawolves' with back-to-back solo home runs to make it 4-2.

Stony Brook continued to pile on the runs, with Kupinski and Badger contributing RBI hits, followed by Ackerman's single to right field, bringing in another run. Montalvo then doubled to right center, driving in another run, extending the lead to 9-2.

Brandi Mitchell contributed a run for the Knights with a single swing, launching a home run to center field, the first of collegiate her career.
