BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The FDU Knights (13-18, 9-6) took on the LIU Sharks (13-16, 11-5) to start a three-game series on Long Island that resulted in a 12-6 loss for the Knights.
Graduate student
Brian Sanders drove in three of the six FDU runs on the day with a blast over the left field wall. This shot was Sanders' second home run of the 2024 season.
The Sharks got on the board first with a four-run second inning followed by a lone run in the third inning to take an early 5-0 lead over the Knights.
The Knights answered back with a huge three-run home run off the bat of Sanders to close the five run deficit to two in the fifth inning.
Hunter D'Amato drove in a lone run in the sixth inning off a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring
Justin Sierra to make it a one run game.
LIU plated seven runs in the eighth inning to extend their lead to 12-4. Four of the seven runs in the eighth were resulted off a grandslam off the bat of Matthew McGurk.

Nick Quagliato,
Jeremy Cheeseman easily scored from second base to give the Knights their first run of the ninth inning. Quagliato later came around to score off a wild pitch. FDU closed out the game with a 12-6 loss to LIU.
Patrick Gardner started the game on the mound for FDU and pitched six innings where five outs were recorded through strikeouts. We saw
Vladimir Ceverino make a relief appearance pitching the final two innings.
The Knights picked up eight hits and four walks in today's game.
Nick Quagliato recorded yet another multi-hit day with a double and two singles as well as
Joey DiMotta who recorded two singles.
Joan Sosa,
Hunter D'Amato and
Brian Sanders all recorded one hit each.

The Knights will return to action to face LIU at LIU Baseball Stadium in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Saturday, April 13. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on NEC Front Row.
