NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – FDU took on Central Connecticut in a road game to close out the regular season securing a 70-56 victory. With today's win the Knights improve to 11-5 in NEC play and 13-16 overall.
The Knights shot an impressive 46.3% from the floor and went 8-15 (53.3%) from three. Gaitley's bunch continues to impress with their defense as they held the Seahawks to single-digit scoring in the final quarter. As well as their ability to crash the glass which resulted in 41 rebounds tonight.
The Burgundy and Blue kept the stat sheet balanced with four players scoring in double-figures:
Staci Williams (18),
Lilly Parke (15),
Abby Conklin (13) and
Teneisia Brown (12).
FDU outscored Central Connecticut in three of four periods in today's win. The Knights found consistent production from three by Williams and Conklin. The Burgundy and Blue drained eight total shots from deep with Conklin accounting for four and Williams with three.
Lilly Parke was the only other Knight to land a triple in the contest for FDU.
Staci Williams has found her rhythm from deep as she logged yet another game with three or more triples. The freshman guard has recorded three or more triples in seven out of the last eight games for the Knights.
FDU found strength holding the Blue Devils to four made threes. FDU tightened up their perimeter control only allowing Central Connecticut to go 4-10 from deep.
Going into the half, FDU led by one with a 36-35 score. Conklin and Williams accounted for 19 of FDU's points in the first half. Conklin shot 3-3 from three and Williams went 4-8 from the floor with one triple.
Staci Williams was also the Knights leading rebounder in the first two quarters where she collected six rebounds off the glass. Brown ended the night with 14 rebounds and 12 points, logging her ninth double-double of the season.
The second half was powered by Williams and Parke tallying another 18 points for the Knights together. Ultimately, FDU secured the win over Central Connecticut 70-56.

FDU is back in action on Monday, March 11 where they will host LIU for the first round of the Northeast Conference playoffs. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. and will be available for streaming on NEC Front Row.
