Knights Look to Secure a Win at Central Connecticut as the Regular Season Comes to a Close

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The FDU Knights will return to action on Thursday, March 6 to take on the Central Connecticut Blue Devils at Detrick Gymnasium in New Britain, Conn. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT 
The Knights took on Wagner in Staten Island, N.Y. and picked up a 59-51 win over the Seahawks. Teneisia Brown led the Knights with 17 points and collected nine rebounds. FDU held control of the game going into the half with a 30-19 lead. The fourth quarter, the Seahawks showed resilience and outscored the Knights 17-11 in their last chance attempt to take control of the game. Ultimately, FDU secured the 59-51 win over Wagner despite their last-minute surge on the court. FDU saw consistent production from Staci Williams from three. The freshman guard went 4-6 from deep and tallied 14 points. The Burgundy and Blue shot 48.1% from the floor and was able to land 8-22 (36.4%) of shots from three. 

BALANCED SCORING
The Knights saw three of their players score in double-figures: Teneisia Brown (17), Staci Williams (14) and Abby Conklin (13).

BEHIND ENEMY LINES
The Blue Devils enter this game with an overall record of 9-19 and sit 7-8 in conference play. In their last game, Central Connecticut came away victorious over Stonehill by a score of 64-45. In their 28 games this season, Central Connecticut is averaging 58.2 points and just over 32 rebounds per game.

SCOUT'S CORNER 
The Knights will be keyed in on the Blue Devils' Samora Watson and Belle Lanpher. Watson has been a key for the Blue Devils on both sides of the ball averaging 17.3 points per game and her ability to pull in the ball where she averages 5.6 rebounds per game. Lanpher is a threat from three for the Blue Devils as she has accumulated a 25% made triples percentage this season.

PACING THE SIDELINES
Way Veney enters her first year as head coach at Central Connecticut. She previously served as an assistant coach and was promoted to assistant head coach at Temple where she helped lead the Owls to three NCAA Tournament appearances. 

MATCHUP HISTORY
The Knights have faced the Blue Devils 48 times, but Central Connecticut currently holds the series at 25-23. The Knights and Blue Devils clashed earlier this season in a game resulting in an FDU overtime victory of 80-75.

WHAT'S NEXT 
FDU will open conference play on March 11 at the Bogota Savings Bank Center. The Knights have clinched the third seed for playoffs and are awaiting the final standings to determine their opponent. Streaming will be available on NEC Front Row.
