JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Knights hit the road for a doubleheader against Saint Peters and managed to split the series.
Saint Peter's took the lead early in the bottom of the first, courtesy of an RBI double from Pitts.
FDU leveled the score in the fourth inning with a powerful home run by Angela Costa, her second of the season.
The Peacocks responded in the fourth, capitalizing on an error with two outs to spark a rally. A double followed by a single brought in two runs.
FDU fought back once more in the fifth inning, tying the game with a ground-out RBI from Megan Berg and an RBI single from Ayden Stone. Flores's walk loaded the bases, prompting a pitching change for Saint Peters. Despite the golden opportunity with one out and bases loaded, the Knights couldn't add another run.
MaryJane Limon took over for Brooklyn Shroyer in the fifth inning after a solid performance. Shroyer yielded five hits while allowing only one earned run over four innings.
Saint Peter's reclaimed the lead in the sixth inning with an RBI single from Skakal.
Entering the seventh inning with a one-run deficit, the Knights couldn't produce any offense in their final three outs, ultimately falling short with a score of 4-3.
The Knights were determined to rebound after a narrow loss, and they did just that.
Once again, Julia Swan took to the mound, pitching her third consecutive complete game. Despite allowing two runs in the first inning, Swan effectively silenced Saint Peter's bats for the remainder of the game. She concluded with four strikeouts, conceding only two earned runs and eight hits.
FDU took the lead first this time, with Stone launching an RBI single in the opening inning to kickstart the proceedings. However, the Peacocks regained the lead in the bottom of the inning courtesy of a 2-RBI single from Skakal.
In a pivotal moment during the top of the fourth, Sydney Newton crushed a two-run home run, the second of her collegiate career, over the left field wall, propelling FDU to a 3-2 lead.
Despite a tense situation with the bases loaded in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Peacocks failed to capitalize, leaving runners stranded as the Knights clinched victory in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader.
The Knights will be hosting Quinnipiac for a doubleheader set to take place on March 30th at 1 PM.
