Knights Kick Off Conference Play Against CCSU

NEW BRITAIN, CONN. - The FDU Knights softball team kicked off conference play by splitting a double header against CCSU.

Game 1

In an intense pitching duel, both FDU and CCSU struggled to get any offense going.

Freshman Brooklyn Shroyer recorded 10 strikeouts through six innings while only allowing three hits.

In the bottom of the seventh inning, CCSU hit a walk off homerun to end the game by a score of 1-0.

Game 2

Julia Swan commanded the mound from the outset, showcasing her skill by keeping the opposing team hitless through a commanding three innings, notching an impressive five strikeouts along the way.

In the pivotal third inning, the Knights took charge as Ayden Stone unleashed a powerful double into the left-center gap, driving in two runs and igniting the scoreboard in their favor.

Maintaining their offensive momentum, the Knights expanded their lead in the fourth inning when Megan Berg's well-placed ground ball brought Angela Costa home, solidifying a 3-0 advantage.

As the game progressed, FDU bolstered their lead in the fifth inning with a big two-run blast from Ayden Stone, marking her third homer of the season and boosting her RBI tally to four for the day.

Meanwhile, Julia Swan continued her masterful performance on the mound, conceding a mere two hits while striking out three batters in a commanding display from the fifth to the seventh inning.
