NEW BRITAIN, CONN.- The Knights softball team wrapped up their three-game series against CSSU with a single game matchup.
Freshman sensation
Brooklyn Shroyer assumed the mound for the Knights, swiftly finding her rhythm. Despite conceding a hit in the opening inning, Shroyer responded with a three-strikeout performance in the second frame.
In the pivotal fourth inning, Andreya Flores ignited the Knights' offense with an electrifying solo homer, marking her first of the season.
Shroyer's dominance continued as she notched four more strikeouts over the subsequent two innings, reaching an impressive 100 strikeouts for the season by the fourth inning's end.
However, CCSU turned the tide in the fifth inning, capitalizing on a three-run blast from Stringer to seize the lead.
Undeterred, the Knights fought back in the sixth inning, as Hayden Salter smashed her inaugural home run of the season, narrowing the deficit to just one run.
Despite Shroyer's commanding performance on the mound, amassing 12 strikeouts over six innings, the Knights failed to rally in the seventh inning, ultimately falling short with a final score of 3-2.
With this loss, the Knights' conference record falls to 1-2.
