HACKENSACK, N.J. - After nabbing a lead in the first minute, Merrimack controlled the pace in a 74-55 win for the Warriors over FDU men's basketball on Senior Night. With the setback, FDU falls to 14-16 overall and 8-7 in the Northeast Conference. Merrimack earned at least a share of the 2023-24 NEC regular season title.
The Knights shot just 30.8 percent in the opening period and 6-of-14 from the free throw line while the Warriors went 46.4 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.
Opening 0-for-8 from three-point land, FDU eventually landed three triples in 23 tries.
Junior forward
Ansley Almonor had 11 points in the first half on 4-of-6 shooting. The 1,000-point scorer finished his night with 14.
Merrimack's Jordan Derkack led all scorers with 23 points. The Knights'
Sean Moore dished a game-high eight assists.
The Burgundy and Blue ended the game on a 7-0 run.
The Knights close-out the 2024 regular season on Saturday, March 2 at Wagner at 4:30 p.m. The 2024 Northeast Conference Championship commences on Wednesday, March 6 at campus sites.
