The game opened with Idaho State seizing an early advantage, scoring one run in the first inning courtesy of an RBI single.
The Knights swiftly retaliated in the second inning through Riley Cunningham who ignited a 2 out rally with a clutch single to center field, bringing home both Isabella Herring and Angela Costa. Celeste Quezada stepped up and delivered a pivotal double, plating Riley Cunningham and Megan Berg, propelling the Knights into a commanding 4-1 lead.
In the bottom of the second inning the Bengals capitalized by scoring four runs to snatch the lead and make it a tight 5-4 ballgame.
Undeterred, FDU showcased their resilience, leveling the score in the top of the third inning through aggressive baserunning prowess from Erica Barella. Barella forced an error while stealing, allowing Sydney Newton to dash home and knot the game at five apiece.
However, Idaho State showed their offensive firepower, tallying an impressive seven runs over the next three innings, swiftly extending their lead to a commanding 13-5 advantage. With the mercy rule coming into play, the game concluded in the fifth inning.
