HACKENSACK, N.J. – A buzzer-beating layup lifted Saint Peter's (3-3, 0-0) over FDU (3-5, 0-0-) in Hackensack on Tuesday night. Bryce Eaton went the length of the floor in under four seconds to finish at the rim and seal the 78-76 victory for the Peacocks.
Prior to the game-winner, FDU scored five-straight points to tie the game at 76-76.
Tyree Barba-Bey started the run with a three, and
Jo'el Emanuel connected on a putback with 3.8 seconds remaining.
Eaton was clutch all night for Bashir Mason's squad. The redshirt freshman posted 21 points in 30 minutes and dished out four assists. He connected from deep three times.
In what has been a theme at home, the Knights started hot. They opened the game on a 10-0 run and were shooting 75% at the first media timeout. They continued to play well on the offensive end, forced 11 turnovers, and took a 40-34 lead into halftime.
Saint Peter's comeback crafted much of their comeback in the paint. They outscored the Knights 20-10 in the painted area in the second period, after being outscored 28-12 in the first half. They also limited the Knights to zero transition points in the final 20 minutes.
The Knights were led in the scoring column by
Terrence Brown, who posted 23 points. The sophomore knocked down 11 of 12 free three attempts en route to his fifth-straight 20-point game.
On the interior,
Bismark Nsiah played his best game as a Knight. The graduate student scored 13 points and collected 12 rebounds. He also showed off a little bit of his playmaking with three assists.
