Men's Basketball Preview: Peacocks Visit Bogota Savings Bank Center

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The only in-state opponent on FDU's schedule this year comes to Hackensack on Tuesday night. The Knights (3-4, 0-0) will take on Saint Peter's (2-3, 0-0) at 7 p.m. inside the Bogota Savings Bank Center. This will be the second-straight contest in this series to air on the YES Network. Fans can also watch on The Gotham Sports App.

Last year, FDU took down Saint Peter's in a 71-70 thriller. Jo'el Emanuel scored 16 points on 6-7 shooting to help the Knights to victory. The game was decided on a pair made FDU of free throws with two seconds remaining. Despite last season's triumph, the Knights are just 17-45 all time against the Peacocks. These teams have split the last four meetings however, and FDU is 3-0 in their last three games at home against their New Jersey rival.

The Knights are coming off a 107-58 victory over Vermont State Randolph. Terrence Brown led the team in scoring for a seventh consecutive game to start the season with 24 points. The breakout sophomore currently sits eighth in the country in scoring at 23.1 points per game.

Saint Peter's comes into this game winners of two straight. This includes victories at home over Saint Elizabeth and on the road at UMBC. The Peacocks did put scares into two New Jersey powers early in the year. They fell by just four at Seton Hall and lost by 10 in Jersey Mike's Arena against Rutgers.

The Peacocks are led in scoring by Marcus Randolph (17.4 points per game). The senior guard is averaging 20.6 points per contest in Saint Peter's last three games.

Bashir Mason is in his third season as head coach in Jersey City. The former Wagner head coach picked up career win number 200 last Wednesday when his team took down Saint Elizabeth. Mason spent ten seasons in the NEC in charge of the Seahawks before crossing the New York/New Jersey border in 2022 to take over the Peacocks.

Following their battle with Saint Peters, FDU will head to Fairfield on Sunday, December 1. Fans can watch the game at 2 p.m. on ESPN+.
