TEANECK, N.J. – FDU outshot Mercyhurst 21-5 on Thursday in Teaneck, but were unable to secure three points as the teams played to a 1-1 draw. The Knights now sit at 3-1-1 in NEC play, while the Lakers move to 1-1-2.
Despite holding most of the possession in the game's opening stages, it was FDU surrendering the first goal. Mercyhurst's Karah Van Horn took advantage of a corner kick and hammered a loose ball into the back of the net in the 16' for a 1-0 Laker lead.
The Knights did not find twine on any of their eight shots in the first half and went into the break trailing 1-0.
It was more of the same for FDU in the second half as they continued to generate chances that lacked the finishing touch. This was until
Ana Salas equalized the match in the 81' with her third goal of the season.
The Knights continued to press for more opportunities, but time ran out before they could find a winner.
Mercyhurst's goalkeeper Chelsea Radicia made nine saves in the match.
