CHICAGO, Ill. – The FDU Knights (6-4-4, 2-2-1) took on the Chicago State Cougars (2-10-1, 1-4-1) resulting in a 2-1 victory.
After a scoreless first half, Chicago State took a 1-0 lead in the 52
nd minute.
In the 62
nd minute, senior forward,
Kevin Leonhard, added another goal to his stellar season to level the match at 1-1. This goal was assisted by
Matt Giraldo. In the 77
th minute, Leonhard played a crucial role in moving the ball down the field in the game winning set piece.
Eric Dlabal scored a screaming goal to give the Knights a 2-1 lead off an assist from Leonhard.
The Knights out-shot the Cougars 5-1 with two shots on goal compared to Chicago State's one.
Leonhard played a key role in tonight's match where he recorded one goal and one assist in tonight's victory over the Cougars.
"This was an important 3 points for us tonight," said head coach
Jaymee Highcock. "We played some really good attacking football in the fast half and created some good turnovers near their goal. We worked hard in the second half and deserved to get the win. This was a good trip for our guys and we deserved to get the important victory. We will use this performance and result to finish out the conference season strong."
