Box Score NEW BRITAIN, CONN. – FDU women's volleyball captured their 12
th consecutive win earlier today with a four-set victory over Central Connecticut State. The Knights remain undefeated in conference play through three weeks.
In a slow start for the Knights, FDU was unable to find any kind of rhythm within the first set. Struggling offensively and defensively, the Burgundy and Blue tallied only six kills on the set, compared to CCSU's 16. Junior
Kylie Nott logged three of those six, leading the struggling FDU squad. A cruising Blue Devils team tallied four aces and two blocks to secure a set one victory of 25-10.
Able to find their footing, the Knights jumped to an early 14-9 lead to kick off set two. A service ace from senior
Jaden Reasor, coupled with two kills by sophomore
Avery Bain and a handful of Blue Devil attacking errors led the Burgundy and Blue to tie the match with a 25-13 set victory. The Knights logged 13 kills and zero errors for an impressive hitting clip of .464.
Riding off the momentum from set two, FDU was able to again take an early lead. The hot hitting Knights kept their foot on the gas, as they logged a hitting percentage over .400. Junior
MacKenzy Ruggiero made her presence known at the net, with five kills and a block. CCSU was unable to find a response and dropped set three 15-25.
Set four saw consistency from the Knights, who had seven players log kills. With two aces, two blocks and 12 kills, FDU was able to take the set and match victory 25-19.
The Burgundy and Blue were led by Bain, who tallied 15 kills on the night. She was followed by Ruggiero who logged 10 kills and no errors for a hitting clip of .500. Defensively, FDU was led by senior
Emily Van O'Linda who totaled 20 digs on the match.
