MORAGA, Calif. - FDU and Saint Mary's battled to a scoreless draw in a Labor Day matinee. This was the final game of a west coast road trip for FDU, who dropped their first matchup to Cal on Friday night.
The Gaels dominated with over 60% of possession in the first half which led them to tally 11 shots before the break with four being placed on net.
The Knights continued to struggle in the final 45 minutes of play but graduate goalie
Spencer King led them with six saves to preserve the shutout.
The offensive was dominated by Saint Mary's who tallied 23 shots with seven on target, in comparison to the Knights who took five shots, missing the target all five times.
Head coach
Seth Roland saw timely defensive plays from New Jersey natives
Damian Naumoski and Jefferey Marquez. Naumoski had a result-saving tackle in the box late in the second half while Marquez picked up a save in the 65' minute to help out his goaltender.
The Knights best scoring opportunity came in the 87' minute when
Matt Giraldo beat a Gaels defender to the ball but chipped the ball over the goalie and the net.
