HACKENSACK, N.J. - FDU Director of Athletics Bradford Hurlbut appointed Christina Broccoli as Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development Monday, bringing the veteran collegiate administrator and fundraiser to the banks of the Hackensack. The San Francisco native comes to FDU after most recently serving as the Major Gift Officer at Mercy, her alma mater.
"We are thrilled to welcome Christina to FDU as we continue to enhance our student-athlete and fan experiences on the banks of the Hackensack," said Hurlbut. "Following our top 100 finish in the LEARFIELD Directors' Cup, coupled with men's basketball's historic run in the NCAA tournament, our momentum is at an all-time high. I am sure Christina is the right person to assist us in seizing the moment and increasing our resources to stay atop the Northeast Conference and continue making headlines across the NCAA!"
"I am equally thrilled and honored to join the FDU family," said Broccoli. "This is a very exciting time for FDU Athletics and I am delighted I can help cultivate continued support for our Knights student-athletes. Now more than ever, we have a great opportunity to provide our student-athletes with the tools they need to be successful, both on and off the field of competition. I look forward to ensuring we make this happen for all our teams in the Burgundy and Blue."
With more than 15 years of experience in collegiate athletic departments and institutions, Broccoli began her career on the west coast at Stanford and San Francisco. At Stanford, Broccoli served as the senior operations and events manager, leading a 14-person team that oversaw new and current event programs and projects for the Cardinal. Broccoli acted as the facility manager for Cagan Stadium, Boyd and Jill Smith Family Stadium, Turf Field and Band Shak, while also managing venue and gameday budgets for various PAC-12 teams at the University.
Moving on to San Francisco in 2010, Broccoli oversaw all external operations of the Dons athletic department in her role as Senior Assistant Athletic Director, including special events, communications, marketing and special projects. Beginning her time with the Dons as Assistant Athletic Department, Broccoli would later serve as Associate Athletic Director with a host of responsibilities including broadcasting, capital project management, purchasing and financial operations of the department.
At San Francisco, Broccoli established a new Dons Club Level at several athletic venues, including the War Memorial Gymnasium, Benedetti Diamond and Negoesco Field. Additionally, she increased the Dons corporate sponsors from 19 to 34 resulting in a 174 percent increase in net revenue over two years. Broccoli also supervised Dons giving events such as Hall of Fame, the Swanson Golf Tournament and Club Level events throughout the academic year.
Most recently at Mercy, the former basketball and softball student-athlete enhanced the college's donor and friends outreach resulting in tremendous strides for student-athletes at Mercy. This included several gifts in excess of $50,000 each to benefit athletics and scholarships for general population students, including the establishment of the Neil Judge Endowed Scholarship which is awarded to the male and female student-athletes with the highest grade point average.
Away from the academic arena, Broccoli founded prosper IV in May 2020, the first Vitamin IV spa in Westchester County, N.Y., specializing in vitamins and hydration for a targeted clientele prioritizing health and wellness. The business has since grown from one location to four in two states.
Graduating from Mercy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Science, Broccoli earned her Master of Business Administration in Sports Administration at Lynn. She resides in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. with her husband and two daughters.
