#1 Knights Advance to NEC Championship Game; Beat SFBK 59-40

HACKENSACK, N.J. – The #1 seeded Knights moved one step closer to their final goal of winning their first NEC Championship in 31 years with their 59-40 victory over #4 St. Francis Brooklyn on Thursday night. FDU now advances to the NEC Women's Basketball Championship game on Sunday, March 12 at Stratis Arena inside the Rothman Center. Tip will take place at 12 p.m.

FDU and SFBK played a tight first half in which the Burgundy and Blue led 27-24 at halftime. The Knights defense uncharacteristically was not locked in for the first half as they let the Terriers shoot 43% from the field. The saving grace for FDU in the first half was the 13 points Chloe Wilson put up to keep the Knights ahead after 20 minutes of play.

The second half was a different story as the Knights dominated the Terriers in the third quarter by outscoring them 13-2. This was the second time this season that SFBK was held to only two points in a quarter at Stratis Arena; the first coming in the 31-point blowout win on January 19. The Knights offense exploded in the fourth quarter scoring 19 points and shooting 57% from the floor to put the Terriers in a hole they could not crawl out of.

FDU was led by Wilson who finished with a team-leading 23 points and nine rebounds. She shot an efficient 9-for-12 from the floor including a perfect 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. The three-pointers did not stop with Wilson as senior guard Celia Carbonell drilled a career-high five threes in the contest to pitch in 15 points. Dahomée Forgues was the last Knight to be in double-figures; she dropped 13 points and picked up seven rebounds off of the glass to help FDU get past SFBK.

The Knights are looking to clinch their first-ever NCAA tournament berth when they host Sacred Heart on Sunday afternoon in the NEC Championship. FDU fans can watch the game on ESPN U at noon.
