NORTH ANDOVER, M.A.- FDU fell in four sets at Merrimack on Friday evening. The loss extends the Knights' current losing streak to nine.
FDU got off to a very strong start in Massachusetts. It was not until Merrimack grabbed an 19-18 lead in the first set that the Knights trailed. FDU was able to grab the lead right back and, thanks to two kills from
Santiago La Jara, win the set 26-24.
The second set was just as tight. FDU tied the set at 12 and then gave up the next two points to fall behind 14-12. They were able to draw the deficit to one multiple times, but never any closer. A Merrimack surge ended the set with a Warrior win, 25-20.
Merrimack won the first six points of the third set and never looked back. They took the third set 25-18. FDU attempted to push the match into a fifth set but could not find the momentum needed to do so. Merrimack closed the match out with a 25-22 victory in the fourth.
Artem Vetrov led the Knights in kills with 12.
Rui Fernandes anchored the defense with 13 digs.
