URBANA, M.D.- Leon Heitz is a winner at Worthington Golf Club. His -4 at the Carpetbagger Classic earned him his first ever individual crown and helped FDU to an eighth-place finish.
After round one, Heitz was -3 and in a tie for first place. His 71 (-1) on day two staved off Brandon Gillis of Rhode Island, who finished one shot back of Heitz. This was Heitz' third top-10 finish of the season.
Jaime Julve also played a respectable two rounds of golf. His scores of +4 and +3 in the two rounds put him in a tie for 24
th place.
FDU sat in 11
th place after firing a 307 on day one. The team bounced back and improved on day two shooting a 301 to earn an eighth place finish out of the 15 teams competing.
FDU heads to the Golden Horseshoe Intercollegiate on March 27-28, which takes place at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club.
