Knights Wrap Up Regular Season with 63-61 Win Over Stonehill

NORTH EASTON, MASS. – The Knights traveled to Massachusetts to wrap up their regular season schedule against the Stonehill Skyhawks. The Knights picked up their program record 22nd win of the season with a 63-61 defeat over the Skyhawks.

how it happened

The Knights and Skyhawks battled it out all night in a back-and-forth game that went down to the buzzer. The first quarter saw the Knights come out slow on both ends of the floor and trail Stonehill 19-10 after 10 minutes of play.

The Knights made three three-point field goals in the second frame, including one from Celia Carbonell. That shot from deep extended Carbonell's streak of games with a made three-pointer to 17. Despite outscoring the Skyhawks 20-13 in the second quarter, the Knights still trailed by two at the half, 32-30. This was only the second time that FDU trailed at the half in NEC play.

The teams continued to trade blows into the second half. While both teams possessed the lead multiple times, neither team stretched a lead to larger than three. The third quarter ended with the teams tied at 53.

Ella Fajardo's third three of the Knight opened the scoring in the fourth quarter. After the Skyhawks fought back to tie the score at 58, two Chloe Wilson free throws gave the Knights a lead they would not relinquish. Stonehill did have a chance to take the lead in the final seconds but FDU's staunch defense forced a shot clock violation. FDU would hang on to win their regular season finale, 63-61.

Sierra DeAngelo led the Knights' offense with 23 points on 50% from the field. Her scoring burst was complemented by Chloe Wilson's stat sheet stuffing. Wilson finished with 11 points, 11 rebounds, and nine assists.
